Oh Oktoberfest...

So there's this thing in Germany called Oktoberfest. Maybe you've heard of it? Oh my goodness! It's so fantastic! I don't even know how to describe it. It's kind of like a county fair...but HUGE...and full of beer. There are fair-type rides to go on, and lots of booths where you can play games. Then there are the beer tents. And by tent, I mean they have steel-frame structures and are ridiculous.

This is the parade that we illegitimately joined. But it got us our table. It's so hard to get a table in a tent. You have to kind of circle the whole place, and as soon as somebody stands up, take their spot. And the waitresses only serve you if you give them a big tip!
This is just one view of the tent. HUGE!

So one of the coolest parts of Oktoberfest was that I got to meet up with JW. It was only for a bit, but how cool?!

He got to meet some of my crazy friends!

And last, but certainly not least....

YUM

Auf Ersten Blick (at first glance)

I don't have a ton of pictures yet.  BUT
I thought this was absolutely gorgeous! I took this on my way down the mountain (by the way, have I mentioned that I live a mile up on a mountain....ugh)
SO pretty though!!

My first meal in Germany!...Chinese food. yum

My bed! I really like my purple comforter and sheets! More pictures to come...I have to make it look more homey first! Right now it just looks like an ugly dorm room.

Every day brings on a new adventure

Wilkommen in Passau!

Whew! I made it to Passau! It has been quite the journey. The plane ride from Washington DC to Munich was not full, so I was able to spread out a bit. That (kind of) made up for the douchebag in the seat in front of me who reclined his seat all the way as soon as he sat down. So eating was a bit difficult...
But yeah, got to Munich, and then took a bus and 2 different trains to Passau. My room is coming together, pictures soon to come.
Yesterday was just a big adventure around town. My dorm is up on a gigantic hill nowhere close to the middle of the city (where all the shopping is). So I made the trek once to get bedsheets and such. Then I went back later and had my first meal in Germany (chinese food), and on the way back I found the grocery store, which was quite a relief!

Today was the first day of orientation. Nothing exciting, just learned a bit about the area and got some forms filled out.

That's all for now! I will be sure to post pictures and write more once I have reliable internet. I haven't been able to get the password for the internet in my dorm yet, so I have to walk a few miles to an internet cafe.

Loves ya!
